                    I completely agree.

And Kay-Ren, yes we should be so lucky, too.

                    You are so right,

There are responsibilities that come with loving your animal companion, and one of those is letting them go when it is time. I've had to euthanize three beloved cats, 18, 16 and 15 years old. It is without a doubt the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but keeping them here for myself wasn't an option. Letting them go shows them how much you love them.

Deonils, I completely appreciate that way of thought...

And how I truly believe exactly your point. Thanks! And Kay-Ren, yes, WE HUMANS SHOULD have it so good. I really don't understand why humans can't die with dignity the same way we are able to grant to our pets. I've seen people BEG to die after being in so much pain and suffering. Why should we NOT be able to? Dr. Kavorkian is a hero. "Dr. Death"? No. "Dr. LIFE",    YES.

Pecan, of course it was the right thing to do!

I am sure Granny appreciated it, too. She went Home with dignity.

Why, Ariala, are you close to that point?

So sorry if you are. I am sort of getting closer. My dog, Brittany, is a 130 lb German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix dog who is now 8 years old. That's "getting up there" for a giant breed dog. They age faster than smaller dogs, so their life span is shorter. I see her getting slower and slower these days, but I am more than confident that I provide a good, healthy, and happy life for her. She's still my best pal and I dread the day she....

PETS TRULY GO TO hEAVEN, SO DON'T HOLD THEM BACK

For all pets offer to their owners, they are heroes and sheroes of a special kind. They couldn't possibly go anywhere after death bu to Heaven. You two will meet them there many decades from now. So let go ... death is just a door to which we pass into His Mansion of many rooms. NSD

                    This is a great post

And so very true.  When Granny was 20, her little kidneys started giving out. When she started getting senile and not recognizing me, that's when I had to put her down.  I miss her. But I know it was the right thing to do.
