Cantey
I can use scripture to support everything I say.
Or else I wouldn't say it and claim such.
As far as being Christian -- I was raised in the Christian paradigm -- learned thorugh several Christian churches
discovered Salvation thorugh the pages of the Bible.
Am Christian in attitude, just as Yeshua was, developing Christ within me.
Cannot, though, separate myself in an exclusive manner by labelling myself "Christian" -- know that The Way, as the early disciples followed it, is open to all religions -- and to all people -- those who follow The Way are believers.
not all Christians are believers.
not all believers are necessarily Christian.

westwend your beliefs are your buisness
but I am just making sure you are not claiming to be a Christian, on this highly exposed platform that has many ears, with the hodgepodge of new ageness you speak because your beliefs are not in accordance with scripture.

Cantey -- response
God is infinitely kind and forgiving. God's expectations are not our expectations. That is why people condemn and God forgives.
Maybe not in this lifetime, but over the course of several, a person will attain to a certain behavior and belief that transcends usual human perception.

Wow everyone
I really wish I had time right now to give you all a reply.

And Gheeghee, no I read all you ahd to say. Bullshit was a meaningless word to me in that comment. You were the to think I would focus on that, which is not my style.

I do have a lot to say to you all, but tonight is not going to be a night for that.

The fundamental flaw in your argument is
( westwend) is your belief that all human beings regardless of what the individual believes is that we are all children of God and we are all going to be saved. That is false. That is not the truth. You peddle one of the most subtle lies that mixes 99% of the bible with 1% lie that renders the rest of the 99% BS. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. You must believe on the name of Jesus and make a choice to adopt Him as the Lord of your life before you can claim to be a child of God. This is what the Bible teaches. If you dont agree with this then you are deceived and just another pawn in Satans army.

Whoops, hit that button too soon.

C. S. Lewis was the first to use that argument, I believe.  He was a converted atheist.  He wrote it in Mere Christianity, which is almost a text book in philosophy courses.

agent smith

That is the other possibility, Christ was a mad man.  He was either God, insane or a liar, but he was not simply a great teacher. "I and the Father are one." John 10:30.

about this "son of God" business.
Look through the Gospels.
He didn't make himself to be the "Son of God" as it is believed -- you, know, the "Trinity" - the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
When he was criticised about calling himself, "Son og God", he responded with the Psamlist saying "Ye are gods, and sons ofg the most high." He held up common people as "sons of the most high".
I think that was the blasphemy for which Caiphus rent his robes that he "saw the Son of Man coming in glory" -- in other words the common human is on a level with God.
That is blasphemy in many religious languages.
The theme continues with the Apostle Paul saying "through the spirit of adoption, we cry ' Abba, Father'". And Hebrews saying we have become Kings and Priests to God.
The whole thing is to emphasize the sacredness of every human being.

New Age delusion and lies

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

 GALATIONS CH 1.

What Bible are you prostituting?

so crucify me
There was a Jewish man born Yeshua.
That man taught a lot of things.
He used the psalms to tell the pharisees and priests and lawyers that "the Kingdom of God iw within you" and "You are gods".
He promoted the sacredness of all we encounter.
He especially taught servitude to others (see the footwashing ceremony at the Last Supper (an attitude to be followed by clerics)
He taught and Paul continued teaching that we all are already forgiven and saved, already, even before we mess up an "sin".
Christ is different from this Yeshua -- Christ is this salvation -- we are already sinless even before we sin -- and we all are equal -- equally good and equally sinful.
I don't think you even need to believe in God to be saved.
Salvation is.

(Now watch, the only word Kooka will zero in on in my previous comment is the word "bullshit."  I bet he will make the leap that therefore, I think he is bullshit, and that Christians would never use the word "bullshit," or call anyone's point of view "bullshit."  I can't wait, Kooka, I just can't wait!!!)

Kooka, all you have to go on are the limited experiences of your limited exposure to limited versions of Christianity.  How can anyone "prove you wrong" when you only use emotion and bullshit to make your points?

I'm sorry that you feel the way that you do.  Maybe one day you will lighten up a little and listen.

In response to budman
David Koresh told everyone he was the messiah and he chose to die as well. How is that different from Jesus?

Nice post,
I agree.

I totally agree with you

I personally don't believe in God, but the picture Christians have painted of his is not a flattering one. As you say, God could send the greatest person in the world to hell if his faith was not strong. Or he could send a mass murderer to heaven if he repents. That is ridiculous. Who believes in that crap?

posted by agentsmith on April 28, 2004 at 11:14 AM | link to this | reply

Wow!

Christianity, over 1 billion deceived.  This means that Christ was a liar or His early followers were killed believing their own lies.  Now that really doesn't make logical sense.  Would you die for a lie you started?
