Comments on Christians crossing the line

the strait way and the narrow gate
seems to apply to Christians, also.
let's look at this:
people will address the issues that they are most in contact with.
Remember The Satanic Verses by Salmon Rushdie.
He criticized Mohammedanism.
Buddha criticized Hinduism.
It's hard to criticize something you don't know much about and are not in contact with.

FUNNY HOW WE NOTICE WHAT WE WANT...

I have seen many Christians express their views and get called idiots, brainwashed and what-not for believing.  The opposite I have not noticed...

Like I said... funny how we notice what we want.

I'm against organized crime too; it's much better when it's disorganized. I love watching two burglars bump heads and stuff!

Aw, Now Kooka, Be Reasonable
You can't tell me there aren't people besides Christians who are hypocritical, irrational, unreasonable boundary-pushers. Sure, plenty of us Christians screw up. Those of us who "get it" admit that we're screw ups. But don't bash just the Christians. I know Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and yes, even some agnostics and atheists who are just as hypocritical and hateful as some of us Christians are. And then I know others who are such wonderful people that you'd want to be part of their religion even if it involved cannibalism or something. Don't put us all in the same box. We're not all irrational hypocrites.

I thought I missed something!

First off, anyone killing, beating, or attacking another human being in the name of Christianity is no Christian.

Second, just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't make it so.  Just like if a person claims to be a Democrat, but doesn't hold to what the Democratic party works toward, is not really a Democrat.  Substitute Democrat for any party, group, religion, club, neighborhood, citizen, whatever, and the statement holds true.

Being Christian means following the teachings of Christ as He dictates--more than that.  It means imitating Christ in all things.  Would Christ, who said, "You who is without sin cast the first stone," have killed an abortionist?  Of course not.  Would Christ, who said, "When I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was naked you clothed me; sick you cared for me...Whatever you do to the least of my people, you do for me," approve of beating, torturing or killing people that didn't believe?  Of course not.  Christ calls ALL of humanity to follow Him, not just a "select group."

Kooka, you seem to take issue with people that hide behind their "Christianity."  This, my friend, is not a problem.  In fact, this is one of the reasons for such disunity among believers.  Many people have a bad habit of being selective in their Christianity--they treat it like a salad bar.  They twist the teachings of Christ to suit their own personal agenda.  You are not wrong to question.  In fact, God doesn't mind you questioning.  The book of Job is about a man that questions all the time, and he is still beloved of God.

The problem that I see is when you make the leap that therefore, Christianity is bunk and all Christians are hipocrites (You may never have used that particular word, but this is one of the strongest themes of every post you put up on this blog).  Just because some idiot thinks that killing an abortonist is a valid Christian response does not mean that all Christians believe this.  In fact, very few Christians support that kind of behavior.

I know that you don't believe in God, and that's your right.  But please, show a little respect for those that do, and quit using stereotypes and generalizations to make your points.  If you are for peace, love and harmony, quit using the same tactics that keep racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of hatred alive and well.  If you want to comment on the behavior of certain Christians, fine.  But before you use it to slam Christianity, maybe you should find out what Christianity is REALLY about, instead of sticking to your misguided assumptions.  You know what they say, "Don't ASS-U-ME anything..."

Unfortunately, I cannot disagree.
I do my best to avoid those tactics.  It is a pain in the ass being human sometimes.

yep
it's odd.
I've encountered quite a few Christians who lie.
A lot of Christians use their "Christianity" to take advantage of other people.
A lot of Christians run over other people and treat other people pretty badly and push and shove to have their way.
They think they are pretty superior.
Yeshua said, "follow me" Paul said "let this mind be in you which was in Yeshua"
This really means that these Christians aren't really "Christian" - that they are "taking the Lord's name in vain."
They wear their religion on their sleeves, like the Pharisees, and yet what comes out of them in the form of words and actions is, like Yeshua says, "full of dead men's bones" -- the outside of the cup is clean and the inside is gross.
You don't have to be Christian to be a follower of The Way.
