no
Elvis aint' justified.
That's not what I mean.
He was a great talent.
He's an example of how fame and money can't keep a person's natural faults from overwhelming him.
I'm commenting on the psychology of fame - David Hinckley & Jodie Foster - for example -- people have a thing about contact with celebrity -- that helped make Elvis a celebrity.
Anyway I agree with you.
I don't want to get in an argument with you over Elvis.

Uh
So you are saying you can justify Elvis because women worshiped him as if he were God? And therefore we need except the idea that he had flaws and was not perfect?

I do not expect anyone to be perfect, but I do like my heroes to have some redeeming qualities. As far as I can figured, out side of his talent, Elvis had none. The most selfish thing he did was go to war, and I am puzzled as to why he did that. It did not fit his character at all. He took, took and took more every chance he got, and never really gave back at all. I do not see him as someone to look up to.

ok
I'm not in total disagreement.
He had problems.
Our problem as humans is that we set up an imperfect icon to be a Messiah for us -- waiting for som esort of salvation -- overlooking the imperfections -- at the performances, you see women waiting for him to throw his scarves -- waiting for a healing -- like the crowds that followed Yeshua.
You're talking one view and I'm off on another, I knokw.

You've got a good exposition there. Good points. I thought I'd branch off, so to speak.

Uh
Okay, I just really think he is over rated. Also I thought it was a good point to make. He was not someone worth looking up to if you take into account all of his character.

Azazel
Elvis is both the Goat of the Congregation and the Azazel.

As goat of the congregation, he became the lamb -- that which was held up before the people to take away their sins.
Like a Messiah. The Icon that he was became the serpent on the rod to which people were drawn for healing.

He is Azazel -- on which people place their sins and then send into the Wilderness to an unknown fate.

Cast him down out of the Heaven in which he dwelt as the Messiah Icon and place on him all the blame we can so that in giving him sins and faults we can not have to bear the weight of our own.

Elvis is an Everyman.
