alt, this has happened to Mexicans for decades, not just since 9-11.
My American passport expired and they wanted to deport my 'now illegal' son, who was included on that totally legal passport the day previous to this one. I couldn't find his American naturalization papers as I had left them in Mexico when fleeing a husband. No one could find his records anywhere, even a US senator who was trying to help us. My son was then eighteen months old and was to be handed over to a Mexican border guard on the other side of the border.
Travesties abound daily. My heart bleeds for Mrs. Silmi. "Justice" isn't always just, I've found.
