From what I can see, we've answered all your questions. As we've said below, a link to a member's other web presence is appropriate from their About Me page.
If you want to tell people on other sites about Blogit then you will be posting a link on those sites. And those links will be linking to Blogit from those sites. And not from Blogit to those sites.
If you still have other questions please post the specific question in Community Help or email us via the Help pages.
Thanks!

You meantioned that we can't link directly to any kind of competition. What if that linking purpose is to get that person to come and sign up here and change their blogging habits. For example someone writes on a blog:
- I make $100 a week working out of the home, but I would like to find more places.
Then I reply with a link.....
- I make about $1000 a month and this is how I do it. (link)
This link would go directly to that information. Now on the blog, I would have this:
- (from..) The from being linked to that other person's question that happens to be a blog. This is how I do it, such and such. Are we allowed to do this?

What are we not allowed to put on our about me pages. Can I put a direct link on my about me pages, that would allow other bloggers to call me and chat with me in person? I use keen for this and I therefore would be making money from it. I also use Kasamba which is the ability to get paid for typing live in a chat room. Is this ok?

Why is Blogit an ad-free (and affiliate link-free) zone? Simple. Blogit is a place for people to connect and communicate, not for advertisers to sell stuff to "consumers" by running a new pop-up ad every few seconds. Readers -- not advertisers -- have power on Blogit.
About Me pages are intended to promote who you are and what you do, or what you've written, and appropriate links from there (e.g. to your book) are perfectly fine. A donation button may be placed on your About Me page.
We highly recommend that every writer market themselves both on and off Blogit. A good case in point is ritchie, currently the top earner on Blogit. He has achieved this status by consistently posting useful content and using his web site to actively attract new readers to his blog.
