My son's away....
If I may, I'd like to suggest that you visit ANDY'S POEMS, if you haven't already. Hopefully, there will be something, there, to please you. I know what it is to be separated from loved ones!  Cheers, Andy *-)

Yasmeen, I was moved by your comments, not only because I also admire your son, but also because I think of my daughter, even though she is not yet two years old, and imagine where she might be decades hence and what I might write about her.  I remember fondly my time in Karachi and your hospitality; in fact, just last week I called Mihail to ask for the recipe for the lime rickeys that Praveen used to make, and have been making them here at home.  All the best, Robert

On this day...
Your post expressed the pain and joy that I too have felt as a mother. I am lucky to have my youngest daughter living near me. My older daughter is living across the country, happy and successful. She is also ready to give birth to my first grandchild. It's a reflection of the circle of life, and of how everything can be bittersweet -- our greatest joys and sorrows often go together. My thoughts go out to you on your son's birthday.
