Actually SpitFire70 It originated in Canada
Once we had invented the telephone, all professional sports, most modern household appliances, the questions mark and the semi colon we were getting bored up here from being so smart and decided to invent a few longstanding English catch phrases. Shortly after that we wrote the Star Spangled Banner and the Battle Hymn of the Republic. At least that is what our history books tell us in our schools up here so it must be true.....or maybe not.

Pecan's right... us English do say 'pardon my French' before swearing, and call if 'French Kissing', while the French do indeed say the reverse.
Nowt so queer as the French, eh?

Hey Pecan,
Do they really say that?? OMG! I seriously didn't know that. Oh, and remember when we were changing the name of "French Fries"?? What ever happend to that?!
Jimmy- Yes, we are both quite arrogant, but I still think the French have us beat in that department! I think Americans are also just lazy, too. (Off the topic, but true!!)

Oo oo oo I know this one.
Actually, it started with the English and the French. Many Many Many years ago. (I don't want to lie and say I know the exact dates. LOL). The English referred to anything vulgar as French, such as curse words and "French kissing." Interestingly enough. The French are reported to say "forgive my English but &8$@(!" And they call kissing with tongue, English. Go figure.
