His feet must be super swollen for that side. I'm wishing him well in getting the fluid lowered.

Keep up the good work. It looks like it will take time. I guess we are all anxious, but he has the best care in your hands.🌺🌺

Kabu.....

I know that you know how to take care of him, but it is difficult to be nurse for one you love because it is too personal.....you care too much when that happens.

Re: Thank you so much for the advice. His meds. have all just been redone

by the staff his Dr. and nurses along with his GP and I have checked then as well. meds are OK .No not on Lasix thank goodness. IT was the Cardiologist who prescribed a drug not combatable and almost killed him, Jim is going to take months to recover if he ever does. being a diabetic since the year dot, doesn't help either                                                                     And yes am doing everything write re for his fluid  odema.

If they give him a diuretic, make sure it's something like Bumex and not Lasix, especially if he isn't on a potassium med as well. Bumex is a potassium-sparing drug, while Lasix tosses potassium, even when you desperately need it.

Bumex doesn't cause you to lose it. Lasix is cheap, but it can also cause him all kinds of cardiac problems.

Does he still have a lot of edema in his lungs, legs, or ankles? If so, gently prop his feet up so they are slightly above his knees. There's that old saying, "Water goes downhill." You want it off his lower extremities and in his pelvic area, where the kidneys can get it.

We wish you both the best.

I know he must be miserable, not just physically because of the symptoms, but also because he can't get up and do what he's used to doing. I believe your good, bossy self is going to get him through this.

Sometimes, a patient needs a bossy nurse for his own good. A comfy pair of slippers is a treasure to own. Regular smile
