Actually, it can come up with an original idea IF you tell it what genre you want to work in.
How you talk to the AI genie is the key.
The problem (for me, anyway) is that once you begin to use AI tools like the ChatGPT site, it becomes like a neon light blinking brightly in the night sky: "I WAS AI GENERATED!"
I was an avid reader when I was young, but as my eyes began to deteriorate, reading became a chore. When I write, I use a 16-point font to see what I'm doing. When I am done, I convert it all to a 14-point font.
I will listen to what the AI bots offer me, but I don't allow them to take over my work!

That's a lot of work and AI can help. But does it have the ability to come up with an original idea? So far I don't think that's what it does. And I don't mind if it checks my grammar and spelling, which ain't always just exactly proper.
