It’s the thought that counts and you meant well. So many things are different these days for our young girls.

I just send family gifts to my two sons. These days they would all rather share a couple of bottles of Champagne together.

Good Afternoon

Pat, I love your ideas and think they would be perfect gifts.  To make my life easy I just ask what everyone likes and I think I may give money to the older ones this year.  I have a house filled with beautiful things but I don't think the kids would want any of them.  They all have their own ideas.  I love knick knacks but I don't think the kids like them.  I have two candy dishes that used to sit on my Grandma's piano and I love them but I don't think the kids will feel the same about them as I do.

Re: TAPS

I've got a set of embroidered dishtowels in a kitchen drawer that my mom embroidered using an iron-on design and used in her kitchen when I was a kid. Also have doilies I've made in the long ago. Mom once won a blue ribbon at the state fair for a crocheted lace tablecloth. I seem to remember a cross-stitch framed motto on the wall, "Home Sweet Home."

Re: Pat_b

I was married in the '50s and the "then old women" of our church were still making things like beautifully embroidered pillow cases, doilies, lacey aprons, crocheted everything and getting together to make quilts.  You wouldn't believe all the things that were given to me and how much I loved them but didn't really use them.  They even crocheted edges of bath towels and embroidered dish towels, knitted hot pads and stuff like that.

Good morning

Actually, some of the old ways have come back full circle. I think that the hope chest is a sweet idea, especially coming from a grandmother who is teaching them about a piece of history that you have experienced. Even though things have changed, I still believe that women desire to find a loving and faithful partner. As for your gift-giving ideas, you are a wonderful grandmother. Regular smile
