A lot of good comments here.  It is sad one has to be so careful but it is foolish not to be.

I like the idea of doing for homeless people. An idea would be to approach a church that does do work to help the homeless. A church could help you vet.

Good Morning

Kabu, my gnomes have been talking about your gnomes coming to visit.  We have plenty of room for them and now with the new boiler, they will be toasty warm. Kabu, in my personal opinion I would not have someone in your lower level.  There are so many variables to that and so many things that could go wrong.  I won't list them but there are so many reasons why this is not a good idea.  There could be times when this would work but unfortunately, I have to say I would not do it.  This is just my opinion.

Suddenly it has turned cold here. I think sand is blocking out the Sun.

I have forgotten how you transport the gnomes. I don't want to tread

on toes but always consult me if you want the most efficient form of

modern transport. Also, your friend will find the glue which we give free

will stick any gnome back into his original shape.

Good evening

A basement apartment could certainly help out someone in need or even be a source of some extra income.

Good evening

I have to agree with you that having no sun is not very pleasant at all. A sunny day is by far my favorite kind of day. 🌞

Very generous idea, to share your home with a homeless person

but be very careful. Make sure your upstairs is secure and they cannot enter your part of the house from theirs. Some homeless people are addicts or have mental health issues. It could be dangerous to take their word for everything - require references and do a background check.

You and Jim are too kind. It's such a generous and socially wonderful idea, BUT...

Maybe you could host a family from Ukraine? There are many in need and some are being hosted here.

There are such variables to consider though. Consider getting the opinion from a church or a social services agency, maybe.

You have such a good heart, but that is not a wise move, to invite a homeless person into your home. I've rescued people more than once, and every time it cost me dear, from thefts, breakages, and betrayals. Rules had no meaning.

It might be workable if you went through a social service agency to vet possible tenants. Even then, know that you'd be hosting someone who may be very needy on emotional levels.
