I remember those seats like that. I also remember in the UK having to open the train door from the outside.

I remember the train compartments
For the eight-hour trips to visit my grandma, the conductor would put a card table between the seats for us so we could play "Old Maids" and "Authors" and such. He would also get us pillows if we wanted to take a nap.
