I've noticed the isolation happens to people after a loss - folks just
don't know what to say and they don't want to sharpen the grief. I think you and your dear wife have mutually decided to appreciate your blessings and celebrate life as it comes. This is a gift only the two of you can give one another. So sweet to read about it.
