Yes, I know what you mean. Sometimes I have to break for them to even have those 6 inches as they almost shave off my front bumper.

I was in one of those some years back when a sudden ice storm hit in Illinois. Fortunately only the van was demolished and the people shook up.

Omaha is a good place to drive most days. I don't drive down here. Jim knows everywhere to go and I don't and I bought him the Mercedes Sports so I don't intend to drive. [she is a 1994 model but looks like new and he loves her]

Some days it feels like that here. I try to avoid rush hours because
even in this small town, drivers are on their phones texting, their cars are weaving across the lanes. Not as extreme as the situation you faced. Thank heavens you made it home OK.
