Well of course I had a garden when I was young and made many mistakes.

It was colder in those days and one had to be careful of late frosts. One would not

think of growing grapes, but now with the weather change mostly everything grows.

Watering in all is the problem.

When I was in my own home with garden space I grew flowers and herbs.  I always had lots of parsley, chives, four kinds of mint.  I loved my hollyhocks along the back wall, and my sweetpeas along  the north fence and every year I grew multi-colored zinnias and portulaca.  I had quite a few kinds of iris and tulips and I forget the rest of them.  But here the complex has yard crew and gardners.

That's neat how you got into gardening. So many plants and gnomes later.

Something about seeing a seed sprout and bloom is so satisfying.

My new neighbor went to work the day they moved in and began landscaping with blooming plants, arbor vitae shrubs, a hydrangea tree and much more. Turns out she is a master gardener. Lucky me - all the natural beauty and none of the work.
