Re: Pat

I'm working on a romance story where the couple is trying to repair a relationship that had gone wrong. In an attempt to do this, they write poetry back and forth to each other.

We are not 'fighting' or any such thing - I love my wife more than life itself - but we *pretend* to be upset to help us justify the poetry we write.

This is one of the latest ones I sent her.

I Will Always Cherish You

I got up and ran my fingers over the glass of the mirror,
seeing my own sleepy face gazing back at me.
When I looked into his eyes,
a wave of emotion took my breath away.

I wondered if it made you feel
the same way it made me feel - uneasy.
Will it make a difference in what we look like
and how we’ll be seen?

I'll always be by your side,
no matter what's on the outside.
Our reflections in the mirror
cannot shake my love for you.

My darling, my heart will always be yours.
I looked at your sweet face,
and it was like I could feel
all the memories of us together.

It's strange how we can't recall
the pleasant feelings of the good times.
However, the terrible moments seem
to be the ones we recall the most.

My heart aches for the hurt
I have caused you through my words and deeds.
I vow never to cause you pain, my love.
I solemnly swear that this is the truth.

It’s remarkable to think of how people
can develop and grow while still
keeping some aspects of themselves the same.

I will always love you,
and my heart is forever
devoted only to you.

Write a poem to your lady love, and tuck it in somewhere for her to find

when she comes home again. It will be a gift for both of you.
