She sounds like my paternal grandma

That's quite a moment with your grandmother. My paternal grandmother was born in 1913. Her grave marker lists her birth year as 1921.

My daughter arranged a monster party for my 80th, with all the

kids, grandkids and great grandkids. It was held at a venue here in town, the kind of place folks hold wedding receptions. It's better to be able to celebrate the birthday of the elders, rather than waiting to gather the family for a celebration of life after they've passed away. I like your feisty grandmother.

Good Afternoon

Kabu, I think your grandmother sounds awesome.  I'm sure the party was a blast.  My grandparents had a farm that my family sold after they were gone.

That must have been some 80th birthday party with so many family members and friends attending. John and I are planning on throwing a big shindig in 2024 for our 60th birthday. With my health issues, I can only hope to make it to the party.

Good afternoon

Life is just too damn short. Every birthday to me is one to be celebrated. As for the farm, I understand your sadness over leaving it. My paternal grandfathers were all farmers in Delaware. If their properties are any indication, they made a good living from it too. I would have loved to have continued with their work, but they were gone long before I was born.
