I can't imagine what you went through. Some kids yell abuse or threaten to call the police so much that many parents are afraid to discipline their children in any way shape or form. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. God bless.

My mother was the textbook definition of a psychopath as given by Robert D. Hare in 1993.
"Psychopaths are social predators who charm, manipulate, and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations, and empty wallets.
Completely lacking in conscience and in feelings for others, they selfishly take what they want and do as they please, violating social norms and expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret."

The judge got it right! She was not fit at all. And presenting as she did is probably common for abusers. Very good writing.

Thank god for that Court scene. All five of your siblings may have died once she killed one she may have gone on a spree and enjoyed the relief for her poor sick mind by killing them all. Obviously she was a very sick woman; it amazs me though how she could turn on the charm for strangers and not lose her calm with everyone. I guess she used that charm on your dad as well after all there were six of you.
