We don't think of consequences at those ages. Glad he turned it all around.

Re: Adnohr

He turned out to be a really good guy, good dad, good husband. Loves the woods and motorcycles, etc.

I wonder if I should admit that Jim and I would very probably have been best friends?

It was a rather unkind thing to do, I wonder if he regretted it. Of course you were not there to see the girls grow into young ladies.

Re: TAPS

I've looked this up, too. Didn't know that meaning when I lived there, but I do know about the boiling up water, cascading little falls as the glacier melt from the higher peaks makes its way down to sea level. I used to hike along Mill Creek at least two or three times a week, especially in the summer, going for a couple miles & looking for animal tracks along the banks, watching rainbow trout swimming in the pools.

Re: I also looked up the small town of Salkum.

You grew up in a spectacular area. I have been to Washington state. It's a beautiful state that is filled with plenty of history and scenery. I see that river rafting is a popular sport. There are a few similarities between Salkum and my neck of the woods. Lewis & Clark traveled down the Monongahela River in Elizabeth where I currently reside, and I see that Salkum has a Lewis and Clark State Park. River rafting is also big in my area. Salkum has a nearby city of Centralia as does my town.

Good morning

You had a most interesting childhood. Salkum sounds very similar to my small boro where everyone knows everything about you and then some. Your brother was quite the character and an all-American boy. That Hershey bar treat certainly packed a punch! He truly was the epitome of devilment. With his persistence, I'm surprised that he didn't eventually date or marry one of the Fleming girls.

I have always been fascinated by the name "Salkum" and finally looked it up.  I was not disappointed.

"The area was a village of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.[2] Salkum is a Cowlitz Indian word meaning 'boiling water' or 'boiling up', a reference to a nearby series of waterfalls on Mill Creek.[2][3][4]"  and more.  It was fun reading the stuff and thinking about you growing up there.

Good Morning

Oh my!  Jim was looking for trouble when he put the X-lax in the chocolate and then offered it to the girls.  It's a good thing your Mom dealt with Jim her own way.  If the girls' father had found out it's hard to tell what would have happened.
