I know my taste has different. i was never one to eat sweet things but suddenly just like my Mother, i crave something sweet way more than I ever used to and i aam caarrying more weight than i should. I have sugar thighs.

Could the 'rat' maybe be a fox? A very large hedgehog? Here, I'd suspect a racoon or skunk. Charlie has seen a couple of skunks, a fox, and last week an owl just standing on the side of the path where he walks his pup Milo.

Good afternoon
I don't know about ice cream tasting differently as I get older, but it sure does react differently in my body than it once did. We are dealing with cooler days here too in Pittsburgh as well as thunderstorms. That apple-eating rat is more than likely feeding a family of six along with a pregnant wife. We had them in our shed too. I drew them in by feeding the birds and the squirrels. We got rid of ours, at least for now anyway.

You are right about the ice cream, and many other things. I think it might partly be loss of taste, but it also is changes in quality of the product.

It's not your taste-buds, ice cream does taste different now. It's made
with more chemicals and preservatives, less fresh and unadulterated cream. Still good on a hot day, though with a bit of chocolate syrup and a dollop of whipping cream.
