I sat beside my brother's bed, alone, for a couple of hours, just feeling him, hoping I was helping his transfer from this world that he knew. I did it with my sister and mom too, but there were others around for that. With Bird, I was alone, and grateful for having that time with him. As for the poor pigs - they have a hard knock. They are already food, and now will become organ donors without a choice. I wouldn't want to be born a pig.

It does raise a lot of ethical questions about using the cells.

As I recall, the sense of hearing is the last to go when one dies.

They're making great strides in medical science. Nice to be able to

prolong life. As for me, I don't want to linger after "my time" if it means being poked and prodded, animated by mechanical parts, be waited on, wiped and therapied every day. I like to think the energy that animates me would be free to find something useful to do in the afterlife.

Good morning

A lack of wrinkles works for me. I am so sorry for your loss, and she was so right about speaking ill of the dead. It is a serious Italian malocchio!

I expect it is a long way to go to proceed from a test tube

Of course we want to keep our loved ones in a special place in our minds.

You have those gentle moments when everything is pure and lasting.

Re: Re: Good Morning - Thank you.

Sea Gypsy, I think your Mom was very wise.

Re: Good Morning - Thank you.

Thank you about my mom. It was quite a while ago. She had been ill and bedridden for many, many years but her mind was sharp as ever! My mom always told us when we were afraid that fear was the fear of the unknown. That, and a few other things...

Good Morning

Sea Gypsy, let me start by saying I'm so sorry about your Mom's passing.  I'm sure she is still close by watching out for you and the family.  As far as bringing pig cells back to life this is scary to me.
