Re: Goldiec,

I can recommend iced mocha! I just use chocolate oatmilk in the coffee, over a big glass full of ice. I try to make pretty strong coffee for it, as it gets pretty diluted as the ice melts.

My mom used to make that cucumber salad, and one without the sour cream. Very yummy!

Good Evening

I love iced coffee!  One day I had Pioneer Woman on and I watched her make her iced coffee and I've been making it ever since then.  I've seen it in the stores but they want too much money for it so I just make my own.  I get flavored creamer that's sugar-free and I feel like I'm having a treat.  We have ceiling fans and they really help keep the house cooler in the heat of the day.  When it's really hot the living room and bedroom air conditioners are turned on.  We don't have central air but the window units do work well.  We eat a lot of cucumbers and salads in the summer and we love cucumber salad with onions and sour cream.

Re: Kabu,

I admire Sassyass's hardiness to forego a/c, but I couldn't do that: heat and I don't do well in summer! I like your simple salad, though I tend to get a bit more extravagant on top of the lettuce, slicing sandwich meats, artichoke hearts, tossing in pecans...

Re: sassyass,

Sounds like you have it all perfectly managed!

The air conditioner/heating has at last been fixed and approved

so we are fine, We just don't use the 4 seasons room on a very hot day. we have also been eating salads for lunch. just lettuce, tomato, grated carrot and blue crumbled cheese. Very easy to throw together and tasty.

Hot days are just perfect for salads, sandwiches, and grilling outdoors. I like to shut my oven down by the end of May and keep it off until well into October. I am not a fan of indoor air-conditioning, so I keep the house cooler this way.
