Re: A fine comment, Ciel.

The story can be interpreted by Shakespeare's keen observation of the psychologies of a man and a women. How their different ways of thought and their determination leads to different actions - the one realizing in action, and the other, in thought. Women are more focused on realizing their ambitions regardless of means, fair or foul. How powerful are their instigations , compelling man to act their ways. Secondly, it is the evil lurking in our minds that make us a monster inside out. Banquo too was returning after the battle against Cawdor but the Weird Sisters did not appear for him.   Thus it is that Macbeth is considered as one of Shakespeare's sublets tragedies.

I really enjoyed your take on Macbeth and our Ciel's thoughts as well. I just don't quite understand how or why a woman has to so many times become the real villian behind what man does!

Both the MacBeths are confounded by heartless ambition. Opportunity amplified the temptation to feed the ambitions they both were prey to, and everything spun out from there. Their tragedy is their susceptibilities, though the Weird Sisters' part in it suggest that it's all fated. But the suggestion that all was predetermined also added to their temptation.

Your post got me thinking about all this!
