Apparently he wrote it while sitting in rainy England, remembering when his dad was stationed in a desert area. Many of us thought is was about an LSD trip at the time.

Happy Mother's Day! I deal with those earworms nightly. I took your advice though. When they wake me up, I act as though I am chewing gum for a few seconds and then the recurring song lyrics go away.

Pat, I want to wish you a wonderful and Happy Mother's Day! I had to smile when I read your post because I can just imagine what it was like when everyone was at your house. I was an only child so for me the more the merrier. I love big family affairs as long as everyone is getting along. If not then I would probably want to sit quietly off by myself.
