Re: Annicita,

Yes, the actual historic people were not nearly as shiny and noble as protrayed either in the book or movie. I look up the histories after reading the novels, just to compare notes!

I loved Shogun the movie and book. Do you know that the actual captain caught was a drunk?

Re: adnohr,

Cherryh can be challenging to read! Her writing style is very convoluted sometimes. I tried sharing that one with my Dad, and he said, "Can she not write a simple declaratory statement?" That was when I learned that Dad had to work to read, that he actually didn't enjoy recreational reading.

Re: TAPS,

When I am done with the book (again) I will be looking online or on Amazon Prime for the miniseries. I will let you know if I find it.

I definitely remember reading Shogun and then later watching the mini-series with Richard Chamberlain.  I would do it all again if I had opportunity.  Perhaps I can ask Santa Claus for a used book this coming December.
