Thank you. As I am finishing up the re-edit of this story, I remember the emotions I felt when I first wrote this story. I was always an 'attentive' husband, but for ten weeks, I allowed Judy to go back to Michigan to work so I could take care of my business in Florida. It proved to be a fatal mistake. If I had been there, I probably could have 'talked her back off the ledge,' but I wasn't. If I had not met Lisa, I wouldn't be here... or anywhere else. I was on a crash course with oblivion, but Lisa saved me. I guess, considering her story, we saved one another, hence the love we have for each other.
I wrote this entire 86,000-word story in something like twenty-eight days from start to being published because of the emotions behind it. The last 75 to 100 pages have been very difficult for me as I know where it was going, and it brings back a lot of bad memories.

If we were all gifted with perfect insight, what a quiet world this would
be. Unfortunately at times we're all selfish or short-sighted, and the lessons we learn are not cheap. It's not wrong to take care of ourselves from time to time - it's how we are able to help those we care about.
