It used to celebrated Oct 12 then they switched it to the 11th. Now they call it Indigenous People Day.

Columbus Day is a very quiet day. In terms of its effect, there isn't much one here in the States. Banks, courts and the post office are closed. That's about it.

Good morning
painting is wonderful for the soul, especially when something special is created. The U.S. has quite a few holidays, many of them make no sense, but we are a strange country with many odd beliefs. Columbus Day is now being called Indigenous Day. After all, the Native Americans were here way before Columbus discovered the Americas.

It is confusing to have to learn all new national holidays, but
when you are a citizen of the world it's got to be worth it. I have one of your painted rocks nestled up against a large unpainted one near my front steps. It always makes me smile when I see those bright colors.

Ha - I found out by reading Pat_B. She mentioned school being closed and I was thinking - but their Thanksgivng is later than ours - then she mentioned the why. You're not rested up yet - the going out and about will be easier later, when your body and soul have had time to relax.
