Re: Pat,

Hers is new and shiny, and spacious for one, with 3 'bedrooms' one of which is her den, one is her workroom, and one, actually a bedroom! Mine is, shall we say, very homey. And as the maple tree has grown, my view of the mountains has grown obscured. But I know it's there, and will be visible again come winter!

So pleased about your sprouting sweet potato! They are such lovely leaf-generators!

Your sister's place sounds almost as nice as yours - with a view worth

watching. I stuck a sprouting sweet potato end into a large pot of Miracle Grow next to the pink & blue hydrangea by my front porch. It had languished on the window sill in a glass of water for several weeks. Three days after having it's dainty little roots in the dirt, it began to green up and grow, and now there are vines trailing and climbing up the hummingbird lawn ornament I stuck in the pot. Green growing hope. Sweet to read about your time with your sis.

Re: Kabu,

That sounds pleasant, and it's as well that you are not scurrying in a rush because someone is down the drive tapping a foot, waiting to move in!

Once the border is open again, of course you are welcome to stay in my guest room a while!

Re: sassyass,

In the 30+ years I lived in the Puget Sound area, we had maybe one heat spell of maybe as high as 101, maybe as long as a week, almost every summer. We never had a/c! I imagine they have it routinely east of the Cascades! In Olympia, fans were generally sufficient. Temps as high as they are now are record setting!

Good afternoon

High heat can happen just about anywhere. Those folks need to stay hydrated with plenty of water. I pray that they get through this trying time, but I do find it odd that the news reports that the PNW residents are without air-conditioning. I grew up in Oregon in the late 70s to early 80s and we had central heat and air. My parents live in Carson City, Nevada and they have central air. It is not like the PNW goes without summer heat, so they have to have some form of a cooling device.
