People will flip just like the candidates.

Good Evening

It seems as though we have no happy medium.  We need level-headed people to make decisions for the right reasons.  The way it is now there is always going to be people who take exception to the rule at hand.  I'm not sure how to fix it.

Re: Re: Respect for all. Law, ethnic groups, veterans, etc...

My feeling about the huge increase in the minimum wage is that prices go up with it. It also means that someone who was making $15.00/hour after working up to it is now back at a level playing field. Minimum wage is intended as a starting point job, not a career. Higher wages should come with either hands-on experience or from getting an education. Grants and scholarships are there for those who apply for them, especially low-income, minorities, and single moms. I see help wanted signs everywhere. Nobody wants to work. The padded unemployment checks are hard to pass up, so in many cases, people are choosing to stay unemployed in favor of the big checks.

Re: sassyass,

Sadly, it is the uber-wealthy who are expecting handouts and benefits.

Raising the minimum wage to about half of what it actually costs to pay rent and support a family in this country has, in fact, where it's been done, benefitted communities where people now have more money to spend, and it turns out that those most protesting it have themselves also benefitted.

I'm not sure what you mean by the lack of respect. I do see it flows both ways, though. We could surely all do better with more respect of law, of social needs, and especially each other. Much lack of respect received results in anger, resentment, and desperation which only leads to responding lack of respect.

Always the priority should be for " We the People." not me the individual.

The wrong priorities have been an ongoing thing for a very long time. We now live in a nation where nobody wants to work, free handouts are expected, respect is in the gutter, and raising the minimum wage to an astronomical amount threatens to put everyone in poverty.
