Re:Pat
Thank you Pat . Yes we do have such places most are subisided by the council.
One of my relations is in one and pays £1000.00 a week you can see ones savings would not last long.

Gambling is a drug. OK if used sensibly.

Re: Kabu
Oh! Kabu , I don't think she would be up to that. Meals on wheels and pop into the micro. It is the way they do it here.

Maybe I will rethink about taking Millie with her. If she buys a nice snug cottage with Ivy on the walls and beams throughout the olderst part. An open fire and a big old range in the kitchen to keep everything warm in winter. A range really cooks best of all.

Great writing! I like Mrs. Webb and each time I read about her she does not disappoint. I must say there are gamblers and then there are gamblers. Some are lucky and some are not and they should know the difference before they get behind in each passing endeavor.

Money plays a big role when it comes to whether one marries or not, especially if it's a second marriage and/or if children are involved.

Gambling a house against cards is highly dangerous.
Your story is sad, but true for so many.

I liked the story in the second poem, bittersweet and ironic - a
story that rings true. Also have grown very fond of Mrs. Webb and the Council House - I'm assuming that's a home for the elderly, probably run by the state or county. In my reading of the story, she smiles a lot and makes those around her feel comfortable. Thank you for both of these.
