I like mysteries with a little bit of romance to even everything out
I love Janet Evanovich! She writes mysteries but there's always some romance with one of her main characters Stephanie and her man Joe Morelli and then there's Ranger! Yes, there are two men in Stephanie's life. She's a hoot and her Grandma is capable of anything! There was the time that her Grandma went on one of those dating sites and sent Stephanie's picture into the site. Oh my goodness Stephanie was getting flowers, candy, marriage proposals and she didn't know what was going on. Here it was her Grandma. Too funny!

Well years since I really liked The Green Gable book. But I just read off of Amazon mostly although we have stacks of books.

Re: Pat_B's Book, Bloody Hell And A Slice of Pie Is quite engaging.
It gives the reader an in-depth view into the life of her mother, and the many obstacles that she overcame. I find it fascinating that after she was forced to quit school, but then she went back in her late 50s and got her GED equivalency.

I like mysteries and intrigue, and humor, any work that's well-written
and teaches me something or gives me a new insight on an old wrinkle. I read a romance novel once - then another, thinking it was very much the same. Put the third one down after only a chapter or so, recognizing the formula and the cliche left no room for a surprise ending.

It was very warm here today and very nice. It's going to drop 20 degrees by Saturday and rain. I may need to buy some shoes.
As for pleasure reading, I'm very diverse. The Violinest's Ear was technical but not borning (about genetics). I had read all the typical historical romance novels for many, many years, but finally burned out on them. One thing I can say is that I learned something from every one of them. Gabaldon to me is outstanding (Outlander, etc.) and in a category all by herself. I've read almost all of her books. Also Philippa Gregory and Alison Weir were interesting. Kostova is entertaining. Xavier Sierra is a favorite, in general, as is Paulo Coelho - and I like Daniel Silva for something different. I particularly enjoy reading Elena Ferrante's books. Maya Angelou and Leonard Cohen for poetry. Enough already! Sorry.

I love romance novels by Nora Roberts.
Sherryl Woods, Nicholas Sparks, and Danielle Steele are high on my list as well.

when I started reading it i sulked a bit but went back and actually enjoyed it. I think young people will understand the story easier than the old version.
