Books

I would have to say books.  There's something that has always drawn me to books.  Before I could read when I was very young I would surround myself with picture books.  The first time I was ever in a library I can remember thinking it was the best place in the world.  As I grew my love of books continued and as I comment on this post I look around and I'm surrounded by my favorite books.  I've had some really trying times in my life and books have always pulled me through. I feel blessed!

One of the charming sights I remember was  when I was walking  across a field at night and it was covered with glow worms it did look magical.

Gotta be the security of my parents' hugs. Of course I don't have that anymore, but I have the memory, and passed it on to my girls and grandkids.

Daddy's sunny-side up eggies, Uncle's frittata, Mom's pancakes, Grandma's bread. But most of all, the idea that I was safe there in our house with family, and because of that nothing else mattered when all else failed. They were there. That is something I keep, now and forever.

Plus, they never made me eat anything I didn't want to eat or "finish my  plate." They understood why that would be the case.

The love for my grandparents is what touched me most.

A child who has grandparents that care about them doesn't need not much more. The second thing would be running free along the shores of Port Mahon while waiting on the crab cages to reap their rewards.
