Re: Aba Brother - Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

Well Presta Sis. In trying to articulate a response brings more clarity to my thoughts, and I delight in them. As regards atheists and agnostics. An atheist says there is no god and he is rigid in his fixed idea, so in some way, he is a believer. So is the theist ... he believes that god is there. He too is fixed. The agnostics are in between the two types. He says I don't know'. I can neither answer in the yes nor in the no. Such a one has the possibility of seeking. Belief, is still a belief, it makes one static. The seekers are dynamic. They want to know first hand whether what they believe is true or not. If it proves untrue then ... good riddance ... leave it. And if one day it proves true then hang to it.

Re: True, it’s gifted to you

The inkling that it must be somewhere becomes a passion and then you start seeing light in the dark.

आप मेरी वो कविता जरूर पढ़ें और अपने विचार बताए

The entire mechanism & required tools are within..

gifted to you....the spiritual journey is putting these tools to proper use to the best of their ability...like a platter full of delicacies.... you eat them to satisfy your hunger and then you discard or keep away the plate or dishes....

And after a point your journey is guided by an invisible hand....and takes the course it's destined to....

Aba Brother - Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

and my question. I do enjoy the study of religion. I understand what the post has said. It has been well-stated and more clearly articulated than my question. I am distracted by where Atheists or Agnostics fit into the picture, and my mind wanders off-topic.  I will re-read again. Thank you very much and When I can devote more time will reflect upon it.

For me the word Faith is what I have to hold close. I know and no one can make me deny what I know. Torture the body and I guess I will say anything eventually but within my soul Faith lives and no matter what my souls sings.

Re: doesnt repent literally mean turn around?

Exactly so, Shamsi. In my reply to Sea Gypsy I have given 'to turn around' to god or to, better still, godliness as its meaning. Thank you so v much.

Re: Re: Aba Brother

Read the last line as levity and not gravity.

Re: Aba Brother

No Sis Presta, it isn't saying to remove the mind from religion and to repent. The confusion may arise and that is why the statement I made in the opening. Religion means 'to bind' ... to re-bind or re-connect oneself to the contemplation of God. The Hebrew meaning is to reconcile. Yes all religions talk of dropping the mind because mind is to be used as a vehicle to reach a destination. Then one can discard it. Initially, the mind is a tool that has to be chastised intoperfection and purity. if it is not, the it keeps one grounded through attachment and does not let one soar. There are four main religions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, mohammedanism and chritianity - all others Zen, zoroastrinism, sufi are their offshoots. The mind, as we know it, has a pull that takes one farther and farther from god. The day one gets attracted to god-realization, he has to turn his face godwards. The mind which is perfectly still is balanced and steady. Only as long as one is a practitioner the mind has its role as a tool, but once perfected he has to let mind be and go ahead. Another thing mind and matter are interchangeable, Not just the mind, the bigger and more subtle EGO too has to be transcended to step into the realm of Spirotuality. It is a then a sort of gravity .... only then can one turn to detachment from attachment.
i greatly love such questions. O it typos if there are. Many thanks Big Sis.

Aba Brother

I read this with interest, as always, dear Aba. This is a double-edged thought, to remove the mind from religion and to repent. I understand the concept of transcending the reasoning of the mind in order to achieve a perfect faith. But do all religions require dropping the mind from this equation, or may one be permitted to enable the mind to soar through increased concentration. Well put, and very enjoyable to read.
