Re: Pat,

Yes, the medical power of attorney is part of this, too. I don't want to be hanging around on life support indefinitely, if that comes up.

Re: Kabu,

Distance will complicate it all for your family. But I am sure they will figure it out.

I will be specifying 6 months rent to be provided to my landlord so the family will have plenty of time to deal with all the stuff.  I suppose some more could be provided for storage costs, too. But I will be getting rid of a lot of the excess along the way, before the will comes into force.

My daughter's law practice is in elder law, estate planning, etc.

and her business slogan is "Get your ducks in a row," complete with a cute picture of a mama duck and half a dozen ducklings... She says not leaving a will, or signing a medical power of attorney, etc. will leave my kids not knowing what I'd want done and everything I own would go to probate for the state to decide. So your idea to get organized would be a great kindness for all concerned.  (I need to get on it, too!)

I have left everything to son No. One but even if snd son never sees me ot talks again I don't want to die an old misery. I have to change my will half and half and they can give the grandchildren or keep forthemselves or sell or give away personal stuff.
