I think you have touched on all the reasons. For many, Blogit is simply a community of people who enjoy writing and maintain that bond.

Re:

LOL. I can't write short stuff. I was writing short articles for nearly thirty newspapers back when newspapers were actually printed and dominated the world. I got my fill of short clips doing that. I fiddled around doing small submissions for years and then I decided to start writing novels. I finished my first one in 2012. It is still my yearly best seller because it was something that moved me.

I use my 'smaller' blog areas to write short stuff, but my main reason for being here is experimenting in actually seeing something I've written posted. I suddenly see mistakes that I had missed. I've gotten comments on a story line that changed the intended outcome of the novel. Naturally, I've given credit to the person who did that when it happens. Anniciata completely changed the outcome of the re-write story I just finishes this morning, 'The Darkness,' with a comment she made.

I saw a poem here by RPresta, and knew I had to have it. I emailed her, made the arrangements to 'buy' it, and it is in the book. Her name is on the cover of the paperback.

I'm not as involved as I used to be or should be, in the 'community,' but that is due to the personal problems I've developed over the past two and a half years. I'll try to do better.

Re:

I practically lived here from late 2002 (via NaNo) thru 2006. Life changed and I became hit and miss here. I was here for a a few months in 2011, then away again as life deescalated rapidly, then returned again in late 2013.

I do a lot of local work selling my material here. I still have my books at various book stores (something that is getting harder and harder to find BTW!) and I have friends (believe it or not!) that I send off paperbacks to and they peddle them for me.

When all is said and done, it's a game that I enjoy to play.

This is true but, even when I'm not writing, I drop in here to read and miss it when it has been too long. I doubt any of us are here for the dollar, but what we have as a community is maybe worth more?

it isn't poined out enough to yes keep blogs short and yes comment to aothere. the real pleasure here, is making friends.

Well the problem lies ,I think in the lack of response . Newbies write and think a dollar earned, but of course if one does not take an interest in other blogs ,it is very disappointing.

I am a former member of Blogit, from 2003 thru 2007. I just returned a few weeks ago. Most of the bloggers from Blogit that I knew are gone now. The Blogit fee is reasonable, and they do their job promoting blogs and books. I always made more than the 5.95 monthly fee, but then offers came along and I eventually moved on. I have a regular job as a field agent, but I also do regular book signings and I promote my books through various social media sites. I am nowhere near wealthy, but I make a healthy income this way. I have watched my fellow writers from then and now, and we have all maintained that blogging and reading, along with continually writing keep's you fresh. Education never ends.
