Re: Kabu,

By the end of summer, I'm afraid I slack off on all the watering, though this year I've paid pretty good attention to the vegie plants on the back porch. I wish it was a bigger porch!

Re: Pat,

A shady house is cooler in summer, and cozy in winter... but I love windows and light! My problem is keeping up the watering especially in the hard-to-reach spots.

I used to have lots of hanging plants and potted geraniums and even air plants...now I am just too tired to care.

In my other house I had lots of house plants, spider plants,

things that spike and things that vine. This house is too dark, it all wilts. Haven't had house plants for years. :(

Ciel - Yes, African Violets.

They are a bit fussy - dont like their leaves wet, but not dusty. I pat them dry. Indirect sun but they bloom when they are happy. I’ll have to check out the strep plants. Thank you.

Re: RPresta,

African violets?  They can be so beautiful!  Even just the leaves are so different. There is another African plant, it has a name like a disease, but it is really exotic and lovely. Streptocarpus is the name.

Oh, your plants are lovely, simply lovely. I had a cousin who always had the best house plants. She inspired me to get a few long ago. I only have two violets right now.
