I've heard about the Whirling Dervishes who believe that dancing in circles brings them closer to Meditation, chanting, prayer are all methods that can bring us closer to God. I believe the reason is that doing these things frees the mind from the daily clutter that clouds judgment and logic. Whatever pleases you, do it. They're better methods than those who only profess a belief in their creator, but won't follow his commandments.
