I have mostly tits at present Blue tit ,Longtailed tit, Great tit,Coal tit,. and Robins and Gold finches . No, no luck, don't worry though, it can't be helped, I do get about twenty a day that I don't want. Sometimes they go into draft on the computer.

Re: Rpresta

Yes RP it must be a job to keep the condensation down even if they have some kind of heating.Yes the gulls seem to attract other birds, I don't feed them on purpose.

Thank you.

Pat

Yes Pat but not being squeamish I expect there is stuff left on the pavements over night that would encourage rats, I know which I would prefer. Thank you I always wondered about the smart answer.

Re:

I think they are a pest at the seasides Taps. Nicking ice creams for example. Although I think the might do a good unseen job here picking up food on the pavements say no more.

Re: FS

Thank you FS.  I did once get a lot of gypsy callers but the old ones have passed on.

It's been a while since I have seen a seagull. They are neat animals...I love the the imagery with the gypsy woman.

Are Rooks in England what we call Crows?

The seagulls sure think we should feed them.  When we used to take our sons to the beach when they were very little, I was afraid a big seagull would pick up one by the scruff of the neck and carry him off.

Someone I used to know called seagulls rats with wings, and would

have been horrified if anyone fed them. (or was that pigeons?)  I occasionally fed the ducks at the lake, but since I no longer eat regular bread, there's no scraps.  I like the Gypsy woman finding a way to repurpose things, painting a can rather than throwing it in the landfill sounds practical.

The question "how long is a piece of string?" was a logic question on a college test I read about. The answer they were looking for: exactly twice as long as the distance from one end to the middle.

No, don't feed the gulls. They will keep coming back and with friends and family. One feels sorry for an old Gypsy woman in a cold cart in the wintertime. Good poem.
