I don't know....I've earned over $2300 since 2005  and that doesn't include the periods I've been away.  I know that's peanuts for someone that gets a book deal or sells stories.  But that's not why I'm here.

Do we fail to welcome new people properly?  Say hi and that's it?

I have to admit that there were times with a lot of hell-raising battles.  My best battles were with the father and son duo....I forget their names now.   Wasn't there a "Blanch?  from Oregon or Washington State? She was a hoot! (I can think of a couple of other words, too)

We actually have to acknowledge that Ariala's presence motivated a lot of us to participate more......enough of memory lane.....

I think with Blogit, the blog wars in the long-term were harmful. People got banned. Others had their feelings hurt and left. Then there are those who realized they could go onto Facebook or Twitter and get more of a response for free.

The reason why this site has such a poor retention of newbies is because the site does not live up to the expectations the site thinks they should have. How many of us came here thinking that we were going to make money and receive constructive feedback for our posts? The money is not there. And the feedback, while befitting of a great community, is probably not going to help one feel they are experiencing the growth of a writer.

I do believe Blogit needs to make changes. A mobile friendly site would be nice. So many millenials do not use a desktop or a laptop. I would like to see the site either opened up and feed itself and its members with ad revenue or a subscription readership only membership.

With regard to the social media bigwigs, I think there is a large segment of the population that is experiencing politics fatigue.

The two things that really matter are:

Top Blogs & Most Popular Today

Of Course....That's if you're a competitive person

Yes.  As ye sow so shall ye reap.  As ye comment so shall others comment to you.

Re: C-D

Only one click per page per day for each reader counts for money.  It is more lucrative to put only five posts per page than ten which some bloggers do.

Re: Corbin_Dallas

Have you ever noticed, or used, the "Leave A Calling Card" link at the end of posts?  This was not here before they made the three-word rule.  They added this at that time for people that just wanted to leave a flower or a heart.  I think it is pretty much ignored.  Actually the three word rule was pretty much used just to get Afzal out of being the Top Blogger and ignored after that.  It was a pretty silly thing anyway.  I was surprised that he stayed for a long, long time anyway.  He was a nice fellow.

Well actually Taps I find commenting takes as long as thinking

up some kind of entry.

I admit I have in the past skimmed over stories

but I do that anyway when I read books.

The trouble is with stories is one has to recall something

that probably one has forgotten.

So it is best to keep it as one blog . Pat does this quite well.

Now as  was saying etc, etc, etc,  I don't blame you for not reading further .

I would like to just say the art of blogging is to comment, comment ,comment.

Another thought came to mind.....everytime someone says "good post" or writes 10 paragraphs of comments, or leaves a flower...it is the same amount of money going to that account.....the more a person clicks overall on a person's account is what determines the % of your monthly payment that goes to them.  Am I wrong about that?

Never heard of the 3-word rule in the 13 years here.......frankly there's alot of times that it's hard to find anything to say about a post....it seems to me it's sort of an unwritten rule if someone comments on your post you reciprocate........

Seems many of us are just getting tired of the tricks and lies that access us through social media, and so are less inclined to make as much use of them as when we thought they were more friendly. I know I am tired of being, finally, someone else's commodity.

I also like that Clinton mindset.

I didn't know the 3-word rule either. Don't think I could write

only 3 words if the blog piqued my interest at all. I like this one, Taps, and agree with Bill Clinton's idea of expanding our notion of who is "us" instead of our notion of "them." I find some here who are firmly anchored in reality and kindness (present company especially) and my take on why there's less and why FB and other places are shrinking is that our attention span is much smaller and less focused than it was when we stuck to books and hand-written letters... Or???

Re: TAPS

I don't think anyone cares about that rule any more or if it still continues.  We are an easier going group these days that it was back then.  Everyone was out for blood back then.  So sorry about your back.  How awful for you.  I hope it gets better.

TAPS

I didn't know about the three-word rule. I try to read and comment fairly. Lately my back has been in terrible pain, so my computer time is limited, like now. I hope others understand, and are able to comment. I would like Blogit to stay around. I will have to get to everyone else later.
