I have had pretty good luck getting reconditioned laptops from small but reputable computer repair shops. If you go that route, I suggest getting the longest warantee you can, though I have never had to use one. But you never know!

That is just wonderful about Faerie publishing your work! My laptop has been ready to go out forever, and does strange things, like put words in the wrong spot. Been looking for another one. It's not easy.
