During the current rash of thunderstorms, I do keep track of where
the flashlight is and am prepared to shut down the computer ASAP... Looked at the news this a.m., at the heat warning map of the USA - apparently 90% of the USA is in the warning zone for today & Saturday... No heading for a state park or the woods for a cool-down. Don't think I've ever seen such a wide area subjected to extreme heat.

Be safe, dear TAPS. Sounds like Ribcage had everything under control. Your post was subtle but laced with a touch of humor. Loved it!

This is the time of year I need to keep the radio on, to hear those warnings that can come suddenly, without much notice, once those thunderheads loom over our heads.
I'm glad your storm was a lot of sound and fury, signifying power loss somewhere else. The storm has hopefully cooled the night air enough that people without a/c won't be too uncomfortable, and hopefully power will be restored by the heat of tomorrow.
