this will show my love of snoopy (SO much love), or my ignorance of history... but I always thought the red baron was simply a foil for Snoopy and a Peanuts creation.  LOL

Sadly youngsters took to the skies like young birds learning to fight and fly. I expect it was a piece of cake for one who had been in the air on hundreds of occasions to pick the young lads off. Probably high rejoicing when he copt out. I did like Anne of Green Gables.

That is a cute debate that you and Wiley were having...I myself believe that it was Snoopy.

I so enjoyed your post, dear S. Sister. In high school we also had to read for French class, "The Queen's Necklace," I believe, or some other such book. And for English we studied Shakespeare's plays line by line with the teacher explaining as we went along. I can imagine the WWI book is quite interesting. My g-uncle was in the service (USA) in France during WWI. Yes, I love history also. But the Baron, I don't know how he got killed.

Kabuiepie;-)

I can't believe the Baron story came up again. LOL Now you have Nauts opinion so he's always right. The guy probably shot himself out of terror. LOL I love you.

It's amazing how much more interesting a factual book can be when it is

research for a fiction project. Couple years back when I was writing "Waltzing With Zombies," (a spy story in which 'ordinary' people save the day) I read a lot of military related books, spycraft and procedurals. Gives me some insight when I watch TV programs like NCIS, etc... I know your Bruno story will grab readers and teach them when the bare facts merge with your heartfelt imaginings.

My own bit of digging (admittedly many years ago) led me to conclude that the Red Baron was hit from the ground and the air virtually simultaneously - it was a joint effort! Whether it was a Canadian or an Australian bullet that actually killed him can never be determined and doesn't really matter...
