Re: sam444

She turned it into a positive, and did well. May life hold great things for her.

How sad for her! I never went because I had no interest! I feel for those who would really love to go but don't get invited! It will be less important as she life moves forward! The poem captured the essence completely! sam

Re: Kabu

Yes, we all we do have books indeed, Kabu, darling. A book of tragic heartaches. OMG! Perhaps I could do an anthology. LOL! Thank you. Well, perhaps I was cursed at one time, no, make that my entire family... Thank you.

We all have books we could write, yes would love to read more of your heart aches. They were so tragic back then and now are a laugh.

Re: Aba

Yes, she didn't have a date but has many friends, and she is young, in high school. She went with them, and had a wonderful time.

Presta dear

Having read others' comments on not or being picked up, I imagine it is a young she, and eventually she must have had a gala time.

Re: Re: Re: Kabu

Yes, that devastated feeling, the memory of it stays with one. But, lucky you, you got to see how they turned out! He didn't wash?!!! Ugh. That Is disgusting. One Ex in high school started dating the girl next door to me. I had to see him drive past my house every day to visit her... Shall I continue??? :)

The sad thing everything really is artificial. A certain style or mannerism is sought after. Not a lot of thought given to quality. A beautiful thought invoking poem.

The prom period of the school year can be so stressful with asking out people or waiting to be asked out. Fortunately, no matter what happens, there are better days ahead.

Re: Nautikos

Yes, as is often the case, especially at that age... She will be fine, I think.

RP

Of course it's sad, but it really appears to be some boy's loss...

Re: Re: Kabu

Oh I remember being devastated. I met up with one of those guys at a family gathering a few years ago...so pleased to see what I missed out on in the long run and met another one and he didn't wash anymore.LOL.

The poor girl. I hope in the end, she wins at life. Thank you, Wiley dear.

Re: Kabu

I'm so sorry to hear that; they didn't know they were missing out. I, like you, also experienced a few sad (to me) tales of being dumped. It ain't easy, S. Sister, especially as a teen.

beautiful poem for an instant i thought that you were writing for me then I found out that you were. Not a prom, we didn't have them in Australia but I always got dumped by a boyfriend during summer when the beach parties were on. That was a bummer.

RPresta

Sweet poetry for one who missed out with her sorrow signified by her bleeding rose.

Re: kasperhoe

Thank you, sweet kasper. Yes, this is someone I know; a very brave and beautiful young lady. It is difficult for me to imagine one going through life and never having been the one "not picked" for something. I will give her your regards when the time is right. She is going to Prom anyway, with her friends, the only one solo.

I send my best wishes to this someone

First I wasn't sure if I got it right. Then I read your ending note and realized what it was about, and then I felt kind of sorry for this poor person.

It's never a "wonderful" feeling to be the never picked. Some people end up like loners and other people start worrying if they would ever be picked as the rose they might be.

If this is a person you actually know, send him/her my best regards.
