TAPS, I manage a deli in one of our towns oldest grocery store.  It's been around since the 40's.  The "older generation" frequent the store.  Not just the men, but women, as well.   Some will talk in an asile for a least an hour or so.  Others will leave and come back in the evening and do the same thing over again.  I just hope when I get older my life won't be going to the grocery store every day for the rest of my life.

There was a local grocery store that was Old Person day every day. They attracted the senior crowd. They were all nice...I find it hard to believe just how much familiar scenes have changed.

I find that the grocery store seems to be full of older people on Tuesdays... perhaps they offer a discount?  The elderly always seem to gravitate to me... Just the other day, I helped one woman find the right jelly.  It was a little thing, but made me happy. LOL

Sounds like any day at The Center, except the olsters who talk

in tones that can be heard outside are the women. Cranks, some of them. Nobody ever had it as bad as they do, they say. But how nice to know you still have most of your mental marbles, and can find your way home again without forgetting the chips...

Sounds like the elder version of the guys who are looking to pick up gals at the supermarket. Not surprised they'd home in on you!

Taps

Whaaat?  No KFC?   We have it on my husband's birthday and mine.  It's a delightful, salt induced, hight fat content meal.  ( And you gotta have the gravy, right?) I get why your Dad enjoyed it!  Lovely story, as always....

Your store visit reads like it bordered on the surreal... All those old men talking, pushing carts; sounds like a Fellini movie. Yikes! LOL. I have a cousin whose daughter puts Cheese Puffs in her sandwiches! The Cheese Puffs are very thick, and I had never seen anything like it. Sad though about your parents. Mine both were cogent; their bodies betrayed them...

TAPS: Yes, the quotes I write are all mine, and my thoughts are the only help I have. Thanks for your visits and comments.

Some how your lovely Post made me sad...thinking about my own parents but they were reversed, Dad needing me to stay in the house with Mother while he enjoyed a couple of hours of R&R...and the fact that I have never stopped missing them.
