Good post, TAPS

I'm aware of the issue; it is sad to think anyone could do this...

It's very sad such inquiries have become necessary...And I hope you're getting your strength back...

great post and I agree with every word. I believe that neglect is also elderly abuse and one day, if I ever run into Wiley's sons.....

This is a big problem Taps more folk becoming dependant on someone who has not the ability to deal with conditions that suddenly confront them. You have loving children thank goodness, but some, well say no more. Just get well.

This is something that we tend to forget about. Thanks for the reminder and hope you're feeling better.

Re: This is sad, but a very useful reminder.

If they are good at what they do, hospitals, nurses, etc. address all fears in some way with whatever counselling and help is needed.  If it really is abuse, they are pretty quick to get the elder out of the situation and take whatever legal steps are necessary.

This is sad, but a very useful reminder.

Do they ask at all what you fear generally? My mom was afraid of falling down, as she frequently did as neuropathy stole her balance, and she nearly always broke bones when she fell. She was also afraid of dying alone which my sister got out of her finally, but she was afraid of being scoffed at, too, I think, so didn't speak of her fears.
