Both of them came close to tyeing the knot with someone else before they fell in love.  They were always very thankful that they found each other in time.

What a fantastic story and post! To answer your question - YES! Here's TMI: It was wartime and my mother had been engaged to someone who was killed in the War. She still had the ring and photos. My father had kept of picture of someone who he wanted to marry but was of the "wrong" religion back then. I didn't find it until almost 10 years after his death!

So Ruff was rude! :) And you love music like - whom, both of your parents? Interesting. I had an ancient teacher who insisted I write with my right hand (as the thinking was that using the left was the sign of the devil) in 7th grade. Ambidexterity runs in my family, so I was able to do so, but when my parents found out they paid a visit to the school and that was stopped.

No dad was Mother's only love and he asked her to marry him on their first date.

Yes My Dad once pointed to a man on a bicycle  and said 'He could have been your father.'
