Re: CCT,

I had forgotten about the bags of straw!  Maybe we should try that here, too.

Re: Re: Pat,

I did try it, and it was just as tasty!  These ears are so big, though, it took 3 minutes.

I have netting bags stuffed with straw it simulates wasp nests to the young queens and I think they move out of the area. Well it has worked for the last three years. Once they were a nuisance. Of course later in the years they get stuck into the fruit, but do not seem aggressive. I hate to see wasps struggling in jam pots filled with jam and water.

But a few drops of olive oil knocks them out, I don't know why.

The corn sounds toothsome. I do like that idea of the soap and water spray. I think that it will work.

Meanwhile, I am keeping an anxious eye on OLD YELLA the spider to make sure she doesn't want to come inside.

Re: Pat,

A woman at the grocery store told me about this method, as we selected our ears yesterday. I have often found nuked fresh vegies don't taste 'right.' I suppose the husk keeps the kernals from exploding. I will have to try it!

I used to microwave corn in the husk, one minute per ear...

Delicious. I'd clean away the silk first, amazed at how quickly they processed.  Love reading about the soapy water thing. Mom used to use it to keep aphids off her rose bushes - and then she found out lady bugs love them & ordered some ladybugs from some garden catalog.
