Yes, wistful it was. Only on one occasion other than the one mentioned, she told me that she still felt for me, and that I was too shy as a boy. Should I have asserted myself then? The question is useless now.

A true love story, the best are always supposed to be tragedy. Obviously she was lacking the ability to let a boy know her feelings, without losing dignity if he didn't fall panting at her feet. Pity. It might have been a wonderful love.
