Memories

Kabu, I know I don't comment often, but I really really enjoy reading anything... and I mean anything you write. I read you evey evening and feel like i have connected with an aunt or other family member. Please, never think that what you write has little value or impact. I have a wonderful and full life but I truely love reading your posts. Love you Kabu.

Good for Josh - books are waaaay better for a kid than video games! And turntables are making a comeback...

So many folks I meet at the Main Street Center swap stories and

anecdotes over coffee, and when I tell them they should write them down, they say Oh, nobody's interested in that old stuff.  Maybe it was because there was no TV, but when I was a kid, 9 or 10, I used to love to hear my grandma Lucy's stories about the olden days. After I drag them kicking and screaming into the "Write Your Own Story" group, they find out those stories "nobody cares about" are unique and interesting. So even if they're wrapped up in texting and video games, one day these kids will look at your stories and say "Wow! I never knew (fill in the blank)."  Just do it...

Joshua sounds like a very interesting grandson to know. I would like to see more people reading books.

Josh will learn that he can and should in the company of his greatgrandmother.

Kabu

It would be wonderful to hear about your grandchildren. Josh could learn what that record player is if you teach him...

When I was a youngun, I loved my grandmothers, but they were not really in my life because neither lived in our city, and one did not live in our state.  I was doing good to see them once a year during a family visit that usually only lasted overnight....no phone calls, and letters were very sparse both directions.  When I was 16, I spent the summer with my Oklahoma Grandma.  I never forgot it.  I hope they both knew that I loved them.

Well you are a modern lady, I would have to show a musical box and say what's this.

I remember my Mum saying once that she would like a gramophone, but at that time I never thought to look for one. She used to like the Rugged Cross, but for the likes of me i cannot remember what we played it on. Sad that one of your grandchildren will never know what his Granny did,in years to come he will regret.
